Shrink database
Shrink Database Wizard allows you to perform database shrinking on your SQL Server system (the DBCC SHRINKDATABASE and SHRINKFILE Transact-SQL statements are issued).
This operation is used to reduce any file within the database to remove unused pages. Both data and transaction log files can be reduced, or shrunk.
To run the wizard, select the Tools | Shrink Database... main menu item or click Shrink Database... button on the toolbar.
The wizard consists of the following steps:
- Selecting server and databases
- Setting shrink type
- Specifying shrink database options
- Specifying shrink file options
- Setting schedule options
- Shrinking database
