Server Roles
The Server Roles section allows you to browse and edit the list of SQL Server Roles, and to define login membership for each role.
Use the context menu to:
create a new server role
edit the selected server role(s)
drop selected server role(s)
- rename the selected server role
- create the object copy on the same server
- clone the object copy to another server
set members of the role
- remove all members from the role
create and print the report
The upper list displays the server roles as a grid with the following columns: Server Role Name, Number of Members, Server Role Description. If more convenient, you can change the order of the columns by dragging their headers horizontally. See the Working with grid section of the SQL Administrator documentation to find out operations that can be performed with the grid.
If you choose a Set Members... item of the context menu the following window appears.
To set a member of the selected server role choose it among the list of logins and check the corresponding box.
For your convenience the Select All and Unselect All functions are implemented in the context menu of the members list.
The lower area allows you to define login membership, i.e. to select the logins that will belong to the selected server role. The Server Roles determine the tasks that can be performed through the selected login. You can edit any login by double-clicking its alias.
