Security

The Security section of the Server Explorer is provided to manage database-level and server-level permissions and principals.

The section has the following nodes for managing the server security:

• Logins
• Database users
• Database roles
• Application Roles
• Server Roles
• Server Permissions
• Database Permissions

Server Security Options

This area shows some server options that define the server security. The context menu of the area allows you to launch the Server Properties dialog where you can view and configure server options. Also, you can double-click within the area to call this dialog.

Database Security Options

This area shows some database options that define the database security. Use the context menu item of the area or the Enter button to launch the Edit Database dialog where you can view and configure database options.

System and Security Administrators

This grid lists logins that are the members of the System Administrators and Security Administrators server roles.

Use the context menu to:

create a new login

edit the selected login(s)

drop selected login(s)

• enable/disable login
• grant/deny login(s)
• unlock login(s)

create and print the report

Alternatively, you can use the 'Insert' button to create login, 'Enter' button to edit login(s) and 'Delete' button to drop login(s).
